Someone always ends up behind the camera, arrives late, or lives too far away for the reunion. Add Someone to a Photo brings them into the frame afterward. Drop a grandparent into the holiday group shot, place a partner beside you in a travel picture, complete a team photo with the colleague who was traveling, or reunite siblings from two different gatherings in one print. The scene photo keeps its setting, composition and everyone already in it; the added people keep their faces, hair and clothing from their own photo. What the tool builds is the join: matching light, shadow, scale and color so the finished image reads as one moment.
Nothing needs configuring. You give two pictures: the scene, and a photo of the person or people to add. The tool works out where they should stand, how large they should be relative to the others, which direction the light falls from and how warm or cool it is, then places them with grounded shadows. After it finishes, use the Compare button to flip between the original scene and the combined version and check three things: the feet or hem where the person meets the ground, the brightness of their face against neighbors, and the size of their head compared with people at the same depth. Any of those can be fixed with a follow-up edit.
Afterward, the combined photo lands on the canvas as a new image, ready for more work. About this tool
- What should I upload for the second photo?
- A clear, well-lit picture where the person's whole body or at least their upper half is visible, taken at roughly the same distance as the people in the scene. Front-facing or slightly angled works best. Avoid heavy filters, sunglasses if nobody else wears them, and very low-resolution crops, since those details carry straight into the result.
- What happens if the two photos were taken in very different light?
- The tool re-lights the added people to match the scene: a person photographed indoors under warm bulbs is adjusted to the cooler daylight of a park picture, and their shadow is drawn to follow the same direction as everyone else's. Extreme mismatches, like a night selfie into a beach shot, can still look slightly off, so pick the closest source you have.
- How many people can I add at once?
- As many as appear in the second photo. A picture of two or three people is added as a group, keeping their arrangement, and each face is preserved individually. For more than that, results get crowded; a better route is to add people in two or three passes, sending the result back into the tool each time.
- Why does the added person sometimes look too large or too small?
- Scale is inferred from the scene, and a picture with no clear depth cues, such as a plain wall with no floor, gives the tool little to measure against. Scenes with a visible ground plane and other people at similar distance produce the most accurate sizing. If it misses, run Edit With Words and ask for the person to be resized.
